Evaluation (9)

At the beginning of our choreographic process we set out to create a piece that was inspired by our stimulus 'Flower Thrower' by Banksy, that represented the two sides of peace and violence intertwining with each other throughout the piece, both trying to win. Looking at our final piece I believe we have achieved what we set out to do. We have our moments of big clashes and the moments of soft contrasting each other telling our story through our movement. We set out to create something that was able to be interpreted differently in our own personal dancing of it but remaining with the central essence of peace and violence.

Choreographing in a group for the first time brought a couple of challenges and learning experiences. I learnt that some people prefer choreographing and some prefer to just dance. I found that I like to choreograph but it can be hard if other people are not on the same page, in the future I would hold more group discussions to really get a glimpse of everyone in their choreography. At the end of this process it has left me with a new love for creating and I would consider choosing choreography as a route in my future.

I've learned that I myself enjoy choreographing on my own but find it harder when in a group as you are all trying to find compromises and things that everyone likes in such a short span of time. I think that I have a good ability for choreographing as I often think about the many aspects needed such as travelling, dynamics, levels, and intention. This allowed me to have an easy time choreographing my section. In conclusion we have had some ups and downs in our process but we feel we have produced a solid piece that portrays everything we aimed to cover and express.
